Dear AVLIC Members,

The Board of Directors are pleased to announce that during the December 11th, 2016 board meeting a revised strategic plan was approved!

Over the past few months, the AVLIC Board of Directors and the Executive Director have been working closely together to update AVLIC's strategic plan. The end result is a revised strategic plan that is responsive to the goals and objectives of both the membership and the Board.

The identified goals of the strategic plan are

  • improved programs & services
  • more benefits of membership
  • better results

In order to achieve these goals the following strategic objectives identified

  • strengthen AVLIC's capacity to deliver its programs and service
  • begin to focus on marketing
  • overhaul & enhance infrastructure (internal process/systems)
  • enhance funding, budgeting and financial management

The strategic plan was built using information gathered from the 2010 Strategic Plan, AGM motions passed since 2010, and interviews with several key volunteers, staff, and former staff. From that information, projects that would enable AVLIC to meet it's strategic objectives were identified.

Over the next five days, expect to receive an email daily from AVLIC exploring our revised road map to success.

If at any time you have any questions, concerns or ideas about AVLIC's strategic activities, please feel free to contact me directly, president@avlic.ca

Sincerely,

Ashley Campbell, AVLIC President
on behalf of the 2016-2018 AVLIC Board of Directors

Dear AVLIC Members,

AVLIC has a revised strategic plan in place! The strategic objectives identified within this strategic plan are to

  • strengthen AVLIC's capacity to deliver its programs and service
  • begin to focus on marketing
  • overhaul & enhance infrastructure (internal process/systems)
  • enhance funding, budgeting and financial management

In order to develop a strategic plan that used a wholistic organizational approach, a comprehensive review of AVLIC mission and AVLIC activities was undertaken. The result of this work is an organizational framework that has been helpful to the Board of Directors in making strategic decisions.

AVLIC's Organizational Framework

In addition to general support services needed to run AVLIC, such as the AVLIC Board of Directors and administrative support, AVLIC actively provides service in 6 areas

  1. Membership
  2. Canadian Evaluations System (CES)
  3. Dispute Resolution Process (DRP)
  4. Advocacy & Consultation
  5. Professional Development
  6. Biennial Conference

AVLIC has 1 program in development, the Professional Conduct Review Process (PCRP) program. Once the PCRP is implemented it will replace the Dispute Resolution Process (DRP) program and the DRP program will cease delivery.

The image below provides a visual representation of this organizational framework.

What's Next?

In our next communication, we will explore the identified projects of the strategic plan and how these projects fit within the organizational framework provided above.

If, at any time, you have questions, concerns or ideas about AVLIC's strategic activities, please feel free to contact me directly, president@avlic.ca.

Ashley Campbell, AVLIC President

A Rolling Strategic Plan

"Life is what happens to us while we are making other plans" - Allen Saunders

Recognizing that there are a multitude of factors that can and will influence AVLIC's development and evolution, the AVLIC Board of Directors have chosen to use a rolling strategic plan approach. A rolling strategic plan is a plan that runs for a period of time and is reviewed & updated regularly.

AVLIC's strategic plan runs on a quarterly basis. The strategic plan will be reviewed and updated at the end of each quarter.

To see a PDF copy of AVLIC's current rolling strategic plan, please click here.

Project Implementation: Timelines

Currently, all identified projects are expected to take place sometime between now and the early part of 2020. Using a rolling strategic plan approach allows AVLIC the flexibility to adjust the timelines or add/remove projects as needed.

What's Next

Over the next quarter, AVLIC will continue to move forward with the projects & initiatives identified within the rolling strategic plan. Progress will be reviewed in March 2017, and the strategic plan will be updated at that time. Members can expect to receive quarterly updates about AVLIC's progress towards achieving it's strategic objectives.
