Recruitment of PCRP Implementation Task Force Members

PCRP Implementation Task Force Members Needed

January 6, 2015 Update:

Thank you to the members who responded to the original message issued (below). Unfortunately, not enough members expressed a willingness to be on the PCRP Implementation Task Force and more members are needed! Without more volunteers, it will be near-impossible to move forward with this vital program to serve AVLIC and the communities AVLIC members serve.

Please give this task force a second thought and consider volunteering to implement the PCRP plan. In particular, people skilled in drafting Requests for Information (RFI); drafting Request for Proposals (RFP) to hire a project manager; and compiling the results of the RFIs and RFPs to determine next steps are needed.

If you would like to be involved in the PCRP Implementation Task Force, please send an e-mail stating your interest, a short biography and what you can offer the PCRP Implementation Task Force as mentioned in #1 below by February 1, 2016

If you have any questions about the PCRP Implementation Task Force or the developed plan, please contact Jocelyn Mark, AVLIC President

Original message issued December 3, 2015:

Dear members,

At the 2015 AGM the AVLIC membership accepted the report from the proponents of the Dispute Resolution Process review (Sylvie Lemay and Madeleine Mcbrearty; RFP# 10007 – DRP Review & Change Implementation). The review included consultation with the membership (via a survey and town hall meetings) and an advisory group consisting of regional Deaf and interpreter representatives.   The new process will be called Professional Compliance Review Process (PCRP) and the full report can be viewed here. The PCRP will become a vital program for AVLIC and the communities for which AVLIC members serve.

Since the AGM, your Board has developed, with consultation, a plan to implement the recommendations from the report. Consultation on this implementation plan has occurred with Affiliate Chapters, the current DRP coordinator, the Canadian Association of the Deaf (CAD-ASC) and a number of individual members who stepped forward.

We are now at the stage that we would like to solicit volunteers to the PCRP Implementation Task Force to carry out the developed plan. If you would like to be involved in the PCRP Implementation Task Force, please send an e-mail stating your interest, a short biography and what you can offer the PCRP Implementation Task Force as mentioned in #1 below by December 22, 2015

Below you will see the drafted plan for the PCRP Implementation Task Force:

  1. Establish a PCRP Implementation Task Force (TF) - this TF will ultimately be responsible for overseeing the implementation of the PCRP and communicating progress to the membership. TF members will include the current DRP coordinator, 3 Active members who collectively possess knowledge / education in project coordination / RFP outcomes / resolution processes and techniques.  Consultation and regular updates with national Deaf organizations will happen via the Joint Communication Team (JCT)
  2. The TF drafts and distributes a Request for Information (RFI), to gather costs for all of the recommendations.
  3. The TF develops an Request for Proposal (RFP) for project coordinator (results of the RFI will be used to provide an overview of what the project coordinator will be undertaking).
  4. Project coordinator works closely with TF, Board and AVLIC staff to prioritize and implement recommendations within a specific time frame.

Note: the PCRP Implementation TF will have administrative support from AVLIC staff. No budget is currently allocated to this TF and meetings / correspondence will be online based.
