2016-2017 Membership Cards

This notice is an important update regarding your membership cards.

As you may recall from the Board Update e-mail on March 1, 2016, according to the membership survey (distributed Fall 2015) the majority of members prefer that membership cards be printed by a professional printing company and a renewal sticker be issued annually. Printing all the membership cards professionally is estimated to be at a cost of $2500.00 (NOT including taxes and shipping). Printing a re-issue card (lost in the mail, Affiliate Chapter change etc.) will cost $30.00 per card. 

You would have seen recently the survey from the AVLIC Name Change Committee. The intention of this committee is to have motions to change the name of AVLIC at the upcoming AGM in Fredericton.

The AVLIC office had planned and was prepared to order membership cards, however, at the recent Board meeting the Board has reviewed all the upcoming activities of the Association, including a potential name change, and investigated the financial impact of these activities.

Given the possibility of a name change for the Association and that the cards would be rendered obsolete in such a short time, the Board has decided to wait until next year to start offering professionally printed membership cards. The Board continues to be prudent with AVLIC funds; ordering and distributing cards now and then again in a few months time would not be in AVLIC's best interests financially. 

For now, AVLIC will provide members with an electronic "card" (PDF). The PDF card can be used to verify membership with AVLIC and the Affiliate Chapter simply by opening the attachment on your smart phone, tablet or computer. Should you wish to have a physical document, you can easily print the PDF (it is already sized to wallet size). Your PDF membership card will be e-mailed to you in the coming weeks. 

If you prefer, you can request a laminated card from the AVLIC office. You must e-mail Julie Hoas, AVLIC Administrative Assistant, at avlic@avlic.ca by May 1, 2016.  

As a reminder, only Active members will receive a membership card. For ease of distribution from the AVLIC office, please ensure that your e-mail is up-to-date in your online membership profile. AVLIC encourages members to keep their membership cards visible as more consumers, clients and members of the public are requesting verification of AVLIC membership.
