2019 David Still Memorial IEP Graduating Student Award

The CASLI office will begin accepting nominations March 8, 2019

 

Application: Criteria & Requirements

Applicants must:
 
  • be a member of CASLI and an Affiliate Chapter
  • successfully graduate from a Canadian interpreter education program at a post-secondary insitution in the current application year
  • provide an ASL video and a 500-750 word essay, double-spaced, describing the following
    • How they exemplify outstanding dedication to the field of interpreting and the Deaf community
    • A description of their career goals and ambitions in the field of interpreting
    • A brief history of their involvement / contributions to both the ASL-English Interpreting and Deaf community
  • provide an up-to-date resume
  • submit two completed reference forms (English or ASL)*
    • one reference form must be from a Deaf person
    • one reference form must be from an Active CASLI member in good standing
 

*Additional Terms & Conditions

 
  • References cannot be from an individual who is faculty of the current program in which the applicant has or will be graduation from 
  • If the successful applicant is chosen before the completion of their final semester, payment of the award will be withheld until the applicant has submitted official evidence of graduation. Failure to do so will result in disqualification and the award will be presented to the next appropriate candidate.
 

Application Process

 
Step 1 - Obtain References
  • references may be submitted in ASL or English
  • all references must be submitted using the online form linked in the red box below (called: Reference Form)
  • once a reference has been submitted for you, you will be automatically forwarded a copy of the reference
  • in order to make this happen, please ensure the person you have asked to provide you a reference has your your email address handy in order to input it in the appropriate form field 
  • when you receive the reference, save the email as a PDF
 
 
Step 2 - Prepare other documents
  • draft your essay in English and ASL
  • save your essay as a PDF
  • upload your ASL essay to YouTube
  • prepare your resume
 
Step 3 - Submit Application
  • applications must be submitted through the online form linked in the red box below (called: Application Form)
  • be prepared to
    • upload reference documents, English essay, & resume
    • paste YouTube link to your ASL essay
