CASLI Board of Directors Update

Dear Members,

On November 11, 4 members of the CASLI Board; Alana McKenna, Jocelyn Mark, Janice Lyons, and Brenda Jenkins met with the Silent No More Collective; Tala Jalili, Amy Parsons, Ayoka Junaid, Kylie Brooks, Marcia Adolphe, and Anita Harding.  The meeting was also attended by Gloria Brifoglio and Sean Power as note takers and supporters for the members of the collective.

This meeting was requested by the CASLI Board and held in Toronto.  The Board’s goal for this meeting was to better understand the lived experience of those members of the collective and to understand the role of CASLI in the oppression of CASLI’s BIPOC members.  The CASLI Board is very grateful to the Silent No More Collective for meeting with us and for sharing their experiences and concerns with us.

We are hoping to engage with the Silent No More collective and membership to review our internal processes and policies from an anti-oppressive lens as well as provide education and training opportunities for our members.

The current Board members will continue until the summer AGM, at which time we will hold an election for the next Board.  Until then we will continue with the daily business of the Association.

Respectfully,

Alana McKenna

Jocelyn Mark
