Renewing Online: Step by Step Guide

Step 1:  Sign into your MEMBERS ONLY account on the CASLI (AVLIC) website.

 

Step 2:  Use the EDIT PROFILE link at the bottom of the page to see profile details.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  • Check your contact details to ensure all information is updated and correct.

  • Update your privacy settings as needed

    • you have the ability to opt out of receiving email distribution messages from CASLI and your Affiliate Chapter(s), as per The Canadian Anti-Spam Legislation

    • the CASLI's Directory of Members is available to the public to view. The Directory of Members displays all Active members' names and locations (city & province) but having an e-mail address shown publicly is optional. If you do not want your e-mail address to appear on the Directory, check the "No" button to the "Display E-mail in Directory of Members?" question, within the "Privacy" section of your full profile. Student members and Subscribers will not appear on the Directory. 

 

Step 3: Hover over the blue MEMBERS ONLY tab and click on RENEW MEMBERSHIP from the drop-down menu.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Step 4:  Check "agree to adhere to the CASLI (AVLIC) Code of Ethics and Guidelines for Professional Conduct" to proceed to payment options

 

Once you have completed these steps, CASLI will notify your Affiliate Chapter(s) of your renewal and will email your membership card (PDF) to you in the beginning of April.

 

How Much Does a Membership Cost?

Dual membership to CASLI and at least one (1) AVLIC Affiliate Chapter of your choice is a requirement of membership.

The total cost to renew you membership depends on many factors, such as

  • membership type
    • ASL-English Interpreter
    • Deaf Interpreter
    • LSQ Interpreter
    • Student
  • Affiliate Chapter fees
  • if you are the age 60 or older
  • if you renew late
  • if your membership is considered lapsed or expired

 

Payment Options

You have the following options to pay your CASLI/Affiliate Chapter membership

  • online (via Paypal)
  • e-transfer
  • cheque

 

If Paying by E-transfer or Cheque

DO NOT use CASLI's online renewal process, please contact the CASLI office directly: casli@casli.ca

 

If Paying Via Paypal

All online payments are processed through PayPal.

  • You are NOT REQUIRED to have a PayPal account in order to use this service.  
  • When you click to PAY ONLINE, you will be directed to the secure PayPal site where you will have to option to use a PayPal account OR to use a major credit card
    • VISA, MasterCard, Discover or American Express 
  • If you are renewing from a computer which has a PayPal account saved in memory (cache), you might be directed to the PayPal account first; simply click on DON'T HAVE A PAYPAL ACCOUNT? to pay using a major credit card instead.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

IMPORTANT: the PayPal receipt will act as your official receipt for taxation and reimbursement purposes. CASLI will not be issuing additional receipts for online payments.

 

Can I Get a Refund?

There are no refunds on membership fees after April 1, 2018.

 

What Happens If I Renew After the Deadline?

Members who do not renew by the membership renewal deadline, will no longer be members in good standing. All benefits and privileges of membership will be suspended. 

 

If an individual's membership expires March 31, 2019 and the membership is not renewed by the deadline, these memberships will be considered late (until March 31, 2020).

In order to reinstate a late membership, these individuals will need to:

  • Pay the current year membership fee; AND,
  • Pay the administration fee [25% of CASLI membership fees]

 

If an individual's membership expired March 31, 2018, the membership will be considered lapsed.

In order to reinstate a lasped membership, these individuals wil need to:

  • Meet the criteria of membership or grandfather clause; AND,
  • Pay the current year membership fee; AND,
  • Pay the administration fee [25% of AVLIC membership fees]
  • Pay a membership fee for one (1) lapsed year (CASLI portion only)

For both late and lapsed memberships, an individual's status within the Canadian Evaluations System (CES) will be reinstated once the membership is restored to good standing.

 

If an individual's membership expired March 31, 2016 (or earlier), the membersihp will be considered expired. 

In order to reinstate an expired membership, these individuals wil need to:

  • Meet the criteria of membership or grandfather clause; AND,
  • Pay the current year membership fee; AND,
  • Pay the administration fee [25% of CASLI membership fees]
  • Pay a membership fee for one (1) lapsed year (AVLIC portion only)

For expired memberships, an individual's status within the Canadian Evaluations System (CES) has been revoked. Once the membership has been restored to good standing, the individual will be required to begin the CES process again, beginning with the Written Test of Knowledge (WTK).
