Canadian Evaluation System

The Canadian Evaluation System

The Canadian Evaluation System (CES) is the result of AVLIC's longstanding commitment to standardizing the quality of interpretation services in Canada. The CES mission is:

To accredit interpreters who demonstrate competencies that reflect the diverse communication preferences of Deaf and hearing Canadians.

To better accomplish our mission, the Evaluations Committee and the membership of AVLIC have endorsed a four-phase model:
  • Phase One: Written Test of Knowledge
  • Phase Two: Preparation
  • Phase Three: Test of Interpretation
  • Phase Four: Certification Maintenance

To enter the Canadian Evaluation System process, candidates must be Active AVLIC members. Application forms for AVLIC membership are available here.
